1. Read the excerpt of the essay by Frederick Jackson Turner and respond to the questions provided. You should be thinking carefully about the role of the land in American history.
2. Create a set of maps to illustrate the territorial growth of the United States. See the instructions on the map packet provided. Neatness and color are important.
3. Skim Pageant chapters 17 and 26. Note the timelines especially.
4. Prepare note cards for the following terms from these chapters and elsewhere. Some of these are “clickable” on the web assignment page! Feel free to make additional cards for terms or concepts that are new to you!
